Donors...

My friend, T, posted something on her blog which is a link to another blog. She linked to this site. After reading this, I thought I'd share something from my history. In February 1999, my then-34-year-old sister had a massive heart attack and passed away. She left behind 3 children and a brand-new husband.

As horrible as this was, something really great came from it. She was an organ donor. I don't remember all of what was donated, but I do remember some of her skin was harvested along with her corneas. She helped someone. I wish I could say I was involved in this decision, but I wasn't. However, I am very proud that she was a donor.

I'm not sure how to become a donor in TX. I do know in IL it was a matter of signing your drivers license. I looked on my DL and can't find anything. (I have to look into this!!!) But just in case, ALL of you now know that I wish to be an organ donor. So, if you ever are in the position to decide for me...you'll know what to do!!!
