Winners and Losers

After reading the results from the recent election, I must say that Senator Joe Biden is the BIG WINNER! Bigger than Barack Obama. See, Senator Obama won one office--President of the United States. Senator Biden won TWO! That's right, TWO!!! He won the offices of Vice-President of the United States AND Senator for the state of Delaware. How will he ever decide??? HA HA HA! Oh, to be so lucky.

Then, I read our local paper. One of my former students is on trial for murder-for-hire. Supposedly, he was paid to murder a local businessman by the businessman's wife. This is very heartbreaking. Not because a former student is on trial, but because of who the former student is. I never--in a bazillion years--would have thought this particular kid would be in jail. Others, yes. I guess we never know what is going to happen to them when they leave us.

I want to end on another winner--who also could be seen as a loser. Another former student was severely injured while serving our country in Iraq back in January. For a while, they didn't know if he would make it. (This is the loser part....) He has had a very, very, very slow recovery with many setbacks. Today, I heard that he is improving and is responding to commands--something he wasn't doing before. (In fact, he was having trouble breathing on his own.) I'm very excited about the progress he is making...We'll all keep the prayers coming!!! (And I'll be honoring him with my lesson on Tuesday.)
