Weekend...

OH WOW...Where do I begin? I don't know if I can remember what has happened since I last posted. I do know that I have been sleep deprived, and it's pretty difficult to get back on track.

Friday...Lock-In. We had a blast. B and I had planned a number of activities, and didn't get to do all of them. We started the evening with the "eating gross food" part. We figured we'd make them sick, let them run around in the gym and then feed them pizza...less yucky food to clean up if they puked during the food part. We guessed correctly. We made it a little worse by blindfolding them before taking them into the room. The first food was turkey, rice and garden vegetable baby food slug guts. One of the girls ate ALL of it. (NOTE: I tried this earlier in the evening. Other than being VERY bland, it was NOT that bad. Yeah, it smelled gross, but it wasn't horrible.) Then came the hard-boiled egg stuffed with whipped cream cheese with a pimento stuffed green olive and red food coloring to make it look bloodshot strained eyeballs. Most of them tried this without fussing. The next three items went down well--no complaints from the group. We had green colored chez whiz on pretzel rods boogers on a stick, chocolate chip with coconut cookies in grape nut cereal cat poop and lemonade, sprite, and rainbow sherbet day old bath water.

After this, we played dodgeball and ordered pizza. While waiting for the pizza, we went into our big gym--which all the lights were out in. We left one door open so the hall lights would give them some light. B and I worked out a plan to scare the girls. When I counted to three, she slammed the only open door, and I turned out the hall lights. The girls screamed and screamed. I thought it would be funny to put down the gate between the cafeteria and gyms and hide from them. The joke was on me! We asked J, the first-year teacher I am mentoring to come scare the girls. He agreed, and we had a plan. However, he came in the wrong door...and scared ME! It was funny. The pizza arrived, and he gave us about 20 minutes to enjoy it before came over the intercom telling the girls to get out. They chased him, and us, around for about an hour. We then did relay races, a photo scavenger hunt and another food contest. This time, they had to eat more baby food--love the cheap, gross stuff!!--eat 5 large marshmellows, and drink a sippy cup full of apple juice and water. The one to complete it the fastest won.

About 3:30, 4 of the girls couldn't hang anymore and went to sleep. The rest of us played murder in the dark. It was a fun, appropriate game--even if the name does not suggest it. At 5:00, two of the girls went with me to get donuts and kolaches from a nearby donut shop. YUM!!!! They were super fresh! At 6:00, B and I couldn't hang any more. I had been up 25 hours at this point. We all were up at 8:30 to clean and go home. I slept about an hour after I got home before I went to have lunch with J, our AP. She loaned me her keys, and I had to return them.

I crashed about 7 pm Saturday night in the recliner and slept until 8am. I took a nap from 11:45-3:45, and I've been ready for bed since 5:30. Forced myself to stay up so I could sleep tonight. The only good thing about this is even though I have to be at work, I don't have to teach as my student teacher will be doing that for the two days before we get out for Thanksgiving. YEAH for student teachers.

I did manage to get caught up on the TV programs I taped from this week. Ready for the week, TV-wise!

Sounds like a lot of fun and it is something those girls will remember forever!
